Jones Pyatt Law, LLC is a law firm focused on tax and real estate services throughout the United States. The firm was established in July 2015 by Paul Jones. As of February 1, 2021, April Sparks Pyatt joined the firm as a partner and chair of real estate services. Prior to joining the firm, April was a partner at Ice Miller LLP. Paul is a partner and chair of the firm’s tax services practice. Paul is a tax attorney with 20 years’ experience representing clients in real estate tax appeals, exemptions, and incentives in the Midwest. For more than two decades, April has provided legal counsel to clients in commercial real estate matters in Indiana and throughout the United States. The firm is comprised of a full-service team of experienced and trusted professionals with broad experience in tax matters, valuation, real estate transactions, and related areas. The firm’s clients are based across the United States and range from Fortune 500 companies to small business owners. The firm’s primary goal is to deliver excellent service to our clients by providing a high level of responsiveness and trusted advice, by providing flexible fee arrangements, and by achieving favorable results for clients, whether by negotiation and settlement, litigation, or the closing of transactions.

The firm represents developers, users, and owners of real estate, including retail stores, big box retail, retail shopping centers, regional malls, office, multifamily housing, hotels, gaming facilities and other commercial properties in the Midwest. The firm’s clients are based across the United States and range from Fortune 500 companies to small business owners. Many of the firm’s clients include well-established real estate development companies as well as start-up developers and owners. The firm represents clients in the retail, industrial, office, mixed-use and multi-family sectors, through all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, development, leasing, financing and workouts, joint venture, and equity structuring. The firm also represents both landlords and tenants in the negotiation of master leases, ground leases, and leases for office parks, industrial centers, retail centers, anchor locations, and distribution and warehouse space.

The firm is uniquely positioned to assist clients with several specific areas due to the broad experience and background of Paul and April and the firm’s team. These unique areas include advising clients and closing transactions related to New Markets Tax Credits (NMTCs), Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTCs), Opportunity Zones (OZs), state tax credits and incentives, tax abatement and tax increment financing (TIF) and other local incentives. The firm also provides counsel to military base re-use authorities, nonprofit corporations, government entities, real estate investment trusts, institutions of higher education, and public companies.
